Your Waiheke Island Wine Tour will start at Matiatia Wharf when you disembark from the ferry (approx. 9.40 am) or we can pick up from your Waiheke holiday accommodation if you wish.
After a short drive through Oneroa village, we leave the main road and take a scenic route with wonderful views across the Hauraki Gulf and Palm Beach.
No visit to Waiheke would be complete without a visit to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With views of Great Barrier and Little Barrier Island in the distance, Onetangi Bay has over 1.5 km of beautiful golden sand.
Leaving Onetangi and we start the gentle climb towards the eastern side of the island. The drive to towards Stony Batter is spectacular and you will have plenty of time to stop and take in the view of the Gulf Islands and beyond to the Coromandel Peninsula.
The scenic drive continues south to the beautiful Man O’War Bay where you can take a walk along the lovely beach looking towards Pakatoa and Rotoroa Islands.
Man O’War winery tasting room is set back from the beach in beautiful shaded surroundings and offers a range of food and wine tasting experiences. Established in 1993, Man O’ War consists of 150 acres of vines planted in 76 individual hillside blocks. Man O’War’s superb wines include Syrah, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Leaving Man O’War Bay we follow the steep gravel road along the winding south coast of the island passing Awakiriapa Bay, Cowes Bay and Te Matuku Bay on the left with beautiful green valleys and farmland on the right.
Passage Rock Vineyard produces some of the best wine on the island and their Reserve Syrah is Waiheke’s most awarded wine with over 18 Gold Medals and 6 trophies.
Surrounded by vines their dining area has a lovely relaxed feel. The bistro menu offers a wide variety of food including their famous wood-fired pizza’s, shared plates, platters, desserts, and award-winning Wines.
More stunning scenery awaits as we drive from Passage Rock to Batch Winery.
Batch Winery has a fantastic location and boasts the highest vineyard in elevation on Waiheke Island with 360-degree views from the Coromandel to the Auckland skyline. The Family-owned winery produces wines which are crafted in small lots and produce wonderful examples of Waiheke wines including Syrah, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay,
From Batch Winery, we travel through Oneroa to one of the best-known vineyards on the island and the final wine tasting venue for the day.
Mudbrick Vineyard is world-renowned for its award-winning wines, restaurant, Italian-inspired rustic gardens and spectacular Auckland skyline views. A wonderful place to end your Waiheke Island Wine Tour.
