Your Waiheke Island Tour will start at Matiatia Wharf when you disembark from the ferry or we can pick up from your Waiheke holiday accommodation if you wish. After a short drive through Oneroa village, we leave the main road and take a scenic route with wonderful views across the Hauraki Gulf and Palm Beach.
No visit to Waiheke would be complete without a visit to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With views of Great Barrier and Little Barrier Island in the distance, Onetangi Bay has over 1.5 km of beautiful golden sand.
We continue the tour passing through Onetangi and then start the climb towards the eastern side of the island. The drive towards Stony Batter is spectacular and you will have plenty of time to stop and take in the view of the Gulf Islands and beyond to the Coromandel Peninsula.
The scenic drive continues south to the beautiful Man O’War Bay where you can take a walk along the lovely beach looking towards Pakatoa and Rotoroa Islands.
Man O’War winery tasting room is set back from the beach in beautiful shaded surroundings and offers a range of food and wine tasting experiences. Established in 1993, Man O’ War consists of 150 acres of vines planted in 76 individual hillside blocks. Man O’War’s superb wines include Syrah, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
From Man O’War Bay we head back across the island to Onetangi. This drive follows the steep gravel road along the winding south coast with spectacular views across Awakiriapa Bay, Cowes Bay and Te Matuku Bay on the left with beautiful green valleys and farmland on the right.
Batch Winery has a fantastic location and boasts the highest vineyard in elevation on Waiheke Island with 360-degree views from the Coromandel to the Auckland skyline. The Family-owned winery produces wines which are crafted in small lots and produce wonderful examples of Waiheke wines including Syrah, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
Just a short drive from Batch Winery we find Rangihoua Estate, home to delicious award-winning virgin olive oils.
Taste a selection of Rangihoua’s award-winning extra virgin olive oils, set in lovely gardens surrounded by olive groves and native New Zealand Forest. Rangihoua has been recognized Four times in the Flos Olei competition which is an International Competition in Italy, created to be a guide to the world’s best olive oils.
Mudbrick Vineyard is world-renowned for its award-winning wines, restaurant, Italian-inspired rustic gardens and spectacular Auckland skyline views. A wonderful place to enjoy some fantastic food.
(Lunch is not included in the cost but we are happy to make your reservation.)
Here you will have time to explore the selection of interesting stores and cafes along the main street. Enjoy a coffee with a view or cool down with a delicious Island Gelato, one of our favourites.
